Animal Science and Intestinal Health
Animal Science and Intestinal Health
Field of Expertise
We are a research line focused on developing solutions to improve the performance, intestinal health, and welfare of pigs at different stages of production. The evaluated strategies include feed additives use, practical management adaptations, and alternative solutions capable of modulating the intestinal microbiota and, consequently, controlling the development of pathogenic agents. In addition to this, we also aim to validate and utilize different tools, such as biomarkers and bioinformatics, which can be employed to minimize economic losses resulting from enteric diseases.

Projects
Research focused on intestinal health is the primary focus of our research line. To achieve this, we create projects aimed at evaluating strategies to improve the intestinal health of pigs. Check out the projects, completed or ongoing, from our group.
Programs
Our programs aim to identify the main issues in different stages of pig production and how intestinal health is affected by them. At the same time, we assess how simple actions can minimize production difficulties, and ultimately, we disseminate the most efficient strategies found to enhance results.
Technical texts
We always prioritize evaluating technologies that have practical applicability in the field. Additionally, technical articles facilitate understanding related to each evaluated strategy. Check out the technical articles written by members of our research line.
Presentations
Our members frequently participate in congresses, symposiums, events, and live sessions related to pig farming. Check out the topics covered in each presentation.
